Dumbarton House on DMS School Grounds

Neighborhood youths have been gathering occasionally at the vacant Dumbarton House on the Dumbarton Middle School grounds.  The historic property, which is owned by Baltimore County, has been vacant since the closing of the Baltimore Actor’s Theatre.  Several times recently, youths were seen loitering around the house and on the fire escape stairs and platforms up to the third floor.  Baltimore County Maintenance Department has recently placed a chain across the fire escape access as well as posting “No Trespassing” and “Area Under Surveillance” signs.

Baltimore County Police have been informed and have requested that the community be notified so that parents can explain to their children that activity around the house and on the fire escape is both potentially dangerous and prohibited.
