Halloween costume, pumpkin, and decorating contests

Calling all Rodgers Forge ghosts and goblins! We’ve heard your cries (and wails and screams) for a socially distant but fun way to celebrate our scariest holiday, so we are excited to announce three contests this Halloween!

1. House Decorating Contest

This time of year the Forge is always full of haunted houses and spooky displays - let’s not let COVID get in the way of that! Members of the RFCA board will be making our way through the neighborhood Oct. 28-30 looking for the best decorated houses we can find. We’ll be looking at lights - we will be looking at cobwebs - if you’ve got music and fog machines, great! Here’s your chance to kick off the holiday season with a monster display that would leave the Grim Reaper himself quaking in his boots. There will be 2 categories:

• Best Overall

•Most Haunted (Scariest/Spookiest)

2. Halloween Costume Contest

One of the highlights of the year is seeing all of the fantastic costumes parade around the neighborhood on Halloween. Because many are choosing to limit their Trick-or-Treating this year, we’re hosting a virtual Costume Contest for everyone to strut their stuff! There will be 2 categories:

• Best DIY Costume

• Best Group/Family Costume (2+ people)

Tag us on Facebook (@rodgersforge) or email pictures to board@rodgersforge.org with the subject line “Costume Contest” to participate. All entries must be received by Nov. 2.

3. Pumpkin-Carving Contest

Grab your carving tools and submit your pumpkin photos for these categories.

• Scariest

• Funniest

• Most Creative

Tag us on Facebook (@rodgersforge) or email pictures to board@rodgersforge.org with the subject line “Pumpkin Contest” to participate. All entries must be received by Nov. 2.

Winners for all contests will be announced on our social media and in the next newsletter.

We also welcome and encourage any general pictures you have from your Halloween celebrations (pumpkin carving, house decorating, family movie night...) so we can all celebrate together, apart! Please tag us on Facebook or email in photos.

(Note: Any photos shared with us for the contests or celebrations might be used online and/or in the newsletter.)

Stay Safe and Happy Haunting!
