RFCA Annual Meeting and Election Day Wednesday, October 2
The Rodgers Forge Annual Meeting and election will be held on October 2 at 7 pm in the Rodgers Forge Elementary School Cafeteria.
There will be a summary of last year’s community activities, an update of current happenings, and an outline of future plans. All residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts. At the meeting, the board will elect candidates for a two-year term. RFCA celebrates the diverse voices of our neighbors and encourages involvement by all. Candidates are from various backgrounds and areas of the neighborhood. Some of current board members are running again and some are new. We usually have fewer nominees than seats available so, as permitted by the By-Laws, the election will most likely be by acclamation - all candidates will automatically be seated absent any objection. Please come to the annual meeting to “acclaim” these candidates who are your neighbors. We are grateful to all who have stepped forward to contribute to our community through service on the board.
In addition to voting on new members, we also have invited Senator Mary Washington, Delegate Catherine Forbes, Councilman Mike Ertel, the County Executive’s Office, and Captain Schroeder, Baltimore County Police Department (Towson Precinct Commander) to attend and address the community.
RFCA candidates for Oct 2024 to Sep 2026
Alexandra Devenport. Alexandra and her family moved to Rodgers Forge in 2022. She lives here with her husband Jon, daughter Willow (1 year old), and their dog Mattie. Professionally, Alexandra works for Medicare as a statistician and has a Master's degree in Public Health from Hopkins. She is a consummate nerd with a passion for board games, video games, and really bad sci-fi novels. She also enjoys baking, specializing in sourdough and macarons. Alexandra looks forward to giving back to the community she and her family have grown to love, and helping make Rodgers Forge an even better place to live.
Annie Darrow, I moved to Rodgers Forge seven years ago after 30+ years in northern CA. I first joined the board in 2018 to get to know people and help with community events. I have served on many board committees and just recently finished two years as Vice President. The most exciting committee I’ve worked on has been the Free Summer Concert Series at Dumbarton House. What a wonderful new tradition we have created in the Forge! My background is in international relations and educational travel (15 years planning and leading Stanford alumni trips) followed by an abrupt turn to special education advocacy when I raised my two sons (Brad, 28 and Andrew, 25). My focus has been on autism and mental health services in both K-12 and young adults in CA. Last year, I returned to leading Stanford Alumni trips. My interests include hiking, piano, kayaking, rescue dogs, land conservation, steeplechase/timber racing, educational travel and the Ravens. I would like to serve again on our board and look forward to meeting many of you at our community events!
Gerry Truelove. My wife, Beth, and I are longtime residents of Stanmore Court having raised our family here. I volunteered in the community as a TRC Girls Soccer Coach and Adult Leader of the Boy Scouts as my children grew up. Educated in Engineering and Business, I spent my career managing local and national manufacturing and logistics companies. I became active in the neighborhood during Towson University’s controversial planning and construction of SECU Arena and the Women’s Softball Field expansion. I have served in various offices and committees as a RFCA Board Member including neighborhood representative to the Towson Communities Alliance and TU University Relations Committee. Recent duties include organizing and promoting the popular three-year-old Dumbarton House summer concert series. Rodgers Forge community is a friendly and diverse mix of young and old from all professions and backgrounds. Through the concern and actions of all residents the community has maintained its historical value and reputation as a wonderful place to live. I look forward to the prospect of continuing my service on the RFCA Board to help maintain and enhance the excellent quality of life in our neighborhood.
Jessica Roosth moved to Rodgers Forge summer of 2019. Originally from Massachusetts, she relocated to Maryland roughly 10 years ago for work. Recent volunteer experience as Vice President of Volunteers, Rodgers Forge PTA [2022-current]. Coordinates school wide activities and all related volunteer needs. Jessica enjoys being part of the community and meeting new people. She has an appreciation for on-going initiatives that support a positive environment, safety of neighbors and community activities.
Luke Redmond and his wife, Whitney, settled in Rodgers Forge just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally from Baltimore, they returned to their roots after living in various places across the country post-college. They reside on Hopkins Rd with their two sons and two dogs and appreciate Rodgers Forge's convenient access to friends, downtown, extended family, and the nearby Tot Lot. Luke works as a Project Manager for a commercial general contractor and enjoys spending time with his family, working on home projects, swimming, hiking, skiing, playing and watching sports, and catching up with friends. Luke has spent time in the Rodgers Forge community since high school and he and Whitney decided to raise their family here because of the vibrant neighborhood spirit.
Matthew Blenner. Hello neighbors! When moving to the Baltimore area in 2014, I followed up on a tip to check out a great family-oriented neighborhood south of Towson. I instantly fell in love with the sense of community I felt and have lived on Dunkirk Road with my three children, Andrew, Nora, and Ryan, ever since. I am an attorney for the Social Security Administration and many of you know me as the Commissioner of Towson Rec Council Youth Baseball. I have served on the RFCA Board as an at-large member for the past two years and as the RFCA delegate to the Towson Communities Alliance where I join delegates from over 30 Towson-area communities to communicate our concerns and issues to local government. I look forward to continuing to cultivate Rodgers Forge as the welcoming neighborhood that attracts so many to settle here, just as I did more than ten years ago.
Sean Miller, his wife Kelly, and daughter Sloan have lived in Rodgers Forge since 2018 and live on Overbrook Road. Sean is a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway and his wife Kelly works for The United Way of Central Maryland. Walking his two dogs around the neighborhood and always running into someone to chat with is one of Sean’s favorite things about Rodgers Forge. “I believe what attracts people the most to Rodgers Forge is the community. Active participation from residents is a small but crucial part of what makes Rodgers Forge so special. I am grateful to have the opportunity of continuing to help our community thrive.”
Travis Miller moved to Overbrook Road in October 2022. Travis, and his partner, Liz Moore have always believed strongly in community engagement both personally and professionally. Travis is the Director of the consulting practice for an information technology company, and has previously worked as a consultant, economist, and investment banker. Liz, in addition to her work in the Academic Support Program at the Calvert Hall College High School, is the principal at Moore Academic Coaching, a team focused on supporting exceptional learners with challenges stemming from dyslexia, ADD, and executive function. In addition to his prior service to the RFCA board, Travis has served on several boards focused on community, soccer, and library services over the past 20 years, overseeing several interest groups. Travis also referees competitive soccer for college and high school. Travis and Liz have fallen in love with Rodgers Forge and look forward to contributing to this wonderful community.
