The RFCA Wants You to Join!

Would you like to meet more neighbors? Have you ever thought that you could contribute to solving neighborhood concerns? Do you love living in Rodgers Forge and want to give more back to the community? Do you have about 2-4 hours a month to commit?  If you say “yes!” (or at least “maybe…”) to any of these questions, we want to hear from you.  So, please consider running for the Board.

The RFCA celebrates the diverse voices of our neighbors and encourages involvement by all! Anyone who lives within the formal boundaries of Rodgers Forge and has paid membership dues (this can be done at the time of submitting one’s name for the board) is eligible to serve.  Only one person per household may serve on the Board. The deadline to submit a nomination is September 15th.

Election of the board shall be by vote of the residents present at the Annual Meeting held on the first Wednesday of October.  If we have fewer candidates than open seats, all candidates will automatically be seated on the Board. If not, we will hold an online vote. There are a variety of roles on the board that fit a wide range of interests – from crunching numbers to helping with fun events to neighborhood advocacy. Board meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of the month at Rodgers Forge Elementary School or another nearby location; however, during the last year all meetings have been held over Zoom because of the pandemic. The Rodgers Forge board is made up of not fewer than 12 and not more than 23 members. Each board member serves a 2-year term, at which point he or she can run for reelection. We often have fewer candidates than open Board seats, so it’s not uncommon for the “election” to be more of a hearty welcome than a formal vote tabulation.

All Board members must serve on at least two committees, attend a minimum of 7 meetings per fiscal year, and support the RFC, Inc.’s Mission Statement and Conduct of Board Members Statement Rodgers Forge Community Association Mission Statement To maintain enhance and protect the high standards of the Rodgers Forge neighborhood, to preserve the excellent quality of life in our neighborhood and to establish channels of communication and opportunities for the residents of Rodgers Forge to participate in the growth of the community.

More ways to be engaged in RFCA activities:

There are many ways you can be involved in RFCA. You can serve on a committee without being a Board member. Even if you can’t commit to committee membership, you can volunteer for an event or task. In whatever way you can help, we welcome you! If you are interested, please send an email to board@rodgersforge.org. We welcome neighbor initiatives! The RFCA Board cannot sponsor them all, but we want to know how we can support your ideas to bring neighbors together, to build our sense of community, and to address collective challenges!

If you have questions or are interested but not ready to put your name forth, please email board@rodgersforge.org and a member of the Board will contact you.

When you are ready to run, please fill out this form!
